We gather St. John’s wort from the wild at the peak of its summer bloom, when the flowering tops are full of golden buds. The fresh flowers are steeped in organic extra virgin olive oil and left to infuse in the sun. Over several weeks the oil turns a deep ruby red, a transformation that has made this plant a treasured remedy for more than two thousand years.
Rich and deeply nourishing, St. John’s wort oil has long been a traditional choice for comforting tired, overworked muscles and soothing skin after too much time in the sun. Massage it into sore areas after a long day in the garden, smooth it over dry or stressed skin, or blend it into your own balms, salves, and massage oils. Use it on its own or at 5 to 25% in a blend of other carrier oils.
